Reiss is a popular mid-price UK brand for men and women, aimed towards fashion conscious professionals. They have brick n mortar locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Boston - with a handful of small boutiques in Bloomingdales (check their website). They ship to US but, rather oddly, the clothing actually ships directly from the UK to your US address. There are 4 things you should know about Reiss:

1) Clothing is super versatile. Most of the clothes - at least for men, in my experience - balance a 'smart look' with touches of 'cool'. In other words, you can wear the same outfit to work as well as for a night out and you will look appropriate in both contexts. Most of the designs are very simple/classic/elegant but have little noticeable fashion forward thinking touches. At least in the UK, I think, this is mostly because people tend to socialize after work without going home to change, so unless you work in a suit, Reiss clothing is simply awesome for transitioning between the work day and an evening out. In my experience, all my US friends comment on my Reiss clothing and I love telling them that they can purchase in the US.

2) Designed for European bodies. My US friends who've visited Reiss stores have commented that the clothing is built for a European frame i.e. slimmer. I would have to agree. They tend not to carry XL sizes. Be warned of the slimmer/leaner designs. A Reiss Large is probably a US Medium.

3) Quality is awesome. I purchased everything from trousers, suits, shirts, sweaters from Reiss (except shoes) and they have lasted years. Now, some of the styles have gone out of fashion but because Reiss clothing is very simple in design (see 1, above) most of it is still wearable today and they've held up really well. With other brands, I really struggle with their quality because I've been spoiled by Reiss and the high expectations it's set.

4) My last tip is, as with most stores, watch out for the Sales. Reiss has a pretty rapid turn over of inventory. I nearly purchased a $1,000 leather jacket at one of their stores in NYC but didn't at the last minute as I didn't have space in my luggage. I remembered a month later and it was available online for $500. I purchased it and a week later noticed it had gone down to $400. I emailed them and they immediately refunded me $100.

I love Reiss so much I dated a girl who worked there. But that's another story.
